Symptoms of TB vary, depending on whether the disease is active or latent. Those with active TB generally exhibit these symptoms:
- A bad cough that lasts more than 2 weeks
- Coughing up blood or sputum from deep in the lungs
- Pain in the chest
- Weakness or fatigue
- Weight loss
- No appetite
- Chills/fever
- Night sweats
Those with latent TB may have no symptoms and do not feel sick. However, they will have a positive skin test with normal chest x-ray and sputum cultures.
